Week One Announced – Bungee Assistant

February 19th, 2007 | By: Sean Aiken | Category: Job Updates | 3 Comments »

And Whistler Bungee it is!

Whistler’s Ultimate Adrenaline Rush will be my first job starting next Monday February 26th. I received various offers from around the country and have decided to kick off the One Week Job project by accepting the offer to work with Whistler Bungee for Week One.

WB LogoWhistler Bungee is a bungee jumping company located 15 minutes South of Whistler Village and is set in the beautiful wilderness of the Whistler Resort Valley nestled between old growth forests and rugged basalt column cliffs. Sounds like fun! The bridge they have up there is 160ft high and spans 300ft over the glacial fed Cheakamus river. They are open all year round and you can visit them at WhistlerBungee.com.

Looks like I will be doing various things for Whistler Bungee throughout the week, helping with a trade show, distributing some marketing material throughout Vancouver, some good old fashioned book keeping and perhaps a day or two up in Whistler at the bridge.

I am really excited to start the project next week and am looking forward to all of the various jobs I will be doing throughout the country!

I have not yet decided where I will be working for Week Two (week of March 5th), so if you have any offers, be sure to check out the offers section and send them my way!

Until next time,

-Sean

I love what you are doing. One of the things I was reading about on your website on how to eliminate child poverty was to make childcare more affordable. It is true that Quebec has done that which is great but what I would love to see and what I would like to urge you to promote is more funding to allow mothers to stay at home with their children. I have worked in daycare centres over the years and have found that the quality of care is no where near that of a mothers care. Often times people leave their children at daycare to go to their 9$ an hour job and end up paying that amount an hour anyway for their childcare. Not to mention the cost of travelling to and from work and the time it takes away from your precious little one and the stress of running around all day. I would love to see the government give funding or tax breaks to new parents to allow them to actually be with there children and make sure they are well fed and taken care of. I think that would help aleviate a lot of the loneliness and neglect children face today as well as the issue of poverty. Thank you for what you are doing!!
    Yay for you – Marie

    I totally agree Marie!

One of the items on the Make Poverty History platform is to increase the child tax benefit per year to take some of this pressure off low income parents.

    Thanks for the comment!
