One Week Job Show – Episode #2: New Tribe Tattoo

August 15th, 2007 | By: Ian MacKenzie | Category: The Show | 5 Comments »

In Episode #2 Sean works a week at New Tribe Tattoo in downtown Toronto. He meets colourful characters and gets a glimpse into the world of tatooing and piercing.

Themes explored in this episode are the existence of discrimination in the workforce, and the difficulty of trying a one week job in an occupation that demands years of training and creative skill.

Lastly, Sean makes an appearance on the most unique interview to date – Naked News Daily.

Thanks to everyone for all your feedback on the first episode and for sharing it with your friends. Sean and I appreciate all the support! Remember, if you’d like to sponsor an upcoming episode, visit our show sponsorship section.

Don’t tell me you tatooed your arm saying “one week”
    Of course not.

But yes, another great episode. These episodes are very entertaining and I look foward to the next, and the next, and the next.

Oh and Sean, thanks to you I quit SuperValu and am working with my cousin on laminate flooring. So far its not too bad. You need a lot of strength though, so hopefully this will get me a little buffer. My cousins been great so far, and he seems to think I’m doing fine. What I love about this new job is that when the jobs done, you pack up your things and your off to another house/apartment/condo/mansion. You start all over again in a brand new area. It’s not the same thing 2wice. It’s sticks with me, I actually remember what I did for whatever day I was doing the job. It’s not, “I stocked the fruits again last wednesday”. More like “yeah I met these nice japanese people last week who gave me fruit during lunch and complimented our work on their floor”. Remembering what I actually contributed to these people just makes such a huge difference in my life.
    It feels wonderful.

Oh and on the side, I’m learning HTML, thanks to Benji’s recomendation book. Hopefully gonna kicks start the ole website creation within me, and start designing.

    Keep on truckin man.

Adam, Great to hear you are enjoying the episodes and the new job! I know what you mean – the feeling that what you do is actually contributing to something greater than yourself is pretty awesome.

    Best of luck!
