Hello! My name is Matt Frost and I’m mad enough to be working 52 different jobs in 52 weeks this year. I’m travelling all over the UK to try and discover a true passion. Anybody, anywhere in the UK can offer me a job for one week and ALL of my wages are being donated to The Prince’s Trust.
Until last year I was working as a retail manager in London but whilst at work one day, a heavy box fell on top of my head and I ended up having to take some significant time off to recover. Long (and slightly painful) story short; I decided not to go back. Instead, my brain came up with the idea to search for something I was truly passionate about by trying out 52 different jobs in one year and donating all of the wages to The Prince’s Trust.
As I began to prepare for my journey I discovered that one man had previously managed to complete a year of 52 different jobs. Maybe my odd idea could actually work!
The One-Week Job Project was created in 2008 by Canadian resident and recent university graduate, Sean Aiken, who struggled to answer the question, “What should I do with my life?” Determined to discover his passion, he embarked on an epic journey throughout North America working 52 jobs in 52 weeks.
So I’m trying it out, taking a leap of faith, and seeing where my adventure takes me. Similar to Sean’s original journey, I’ll travel to each job, work there for one week, and share my experiences through blog posts, pictures, and video updates. Career Coach, Mark Anderson, will help guide me throughout my search, and lend his insight and expertise.
I’m sure to have some interesting and amazing experiences through my journey. You’re welcome to join me and witness my successes and failures along the way as I test myself and help to raise money for a great cause. I have no idea yet where I’ll be going, what I’ll be doing, or where I’ll eventually end up but do follow along because that’s part of the fun!
